Relay Day Wrap Up - SMR Relays - Centre Training
Centre Training is on tonight from 5-6pm. We’ll focus on Hurdles, Shot Put, Long/Triple Jump and our U6-8 session.
Mentone Relay Day Wrap Up
A massive thank you to Community Bank - Parkdale and everyone who attended or assisted at our 42nd Mentone Relay Day. It was yet another epic day, 777 teams took to the track, 840 batons were presented, and only 1 hamstring torn in the parents’ race. But the smiles on the kids’ faces as they ran around the track and made new memories was well worth it.
As one of the Competition Coordinators I wanted to personally thank those who showed up for their duty. We had a little over 200 rostered shifts across the day and that is in addition to the Committee who all worked 12-hour days to make this event happen, plus many, many more hours in the lead up. Without your support this event could not happen.
Congratulations to Cranbourne for taking home the Peter Wilkie Shield. Shield results are here.
Full race results are here.
Southern Metropolitan Region Relay Carnival
The following information is only for those families with athletes competing at the Southern Metropolitan Region Relay Carnival on Saturday 22nd November. If your child is not competing, please disregard.
The event has had a change of location this year. The Region Relay Carnival will be held at Frankston Little Athletics Centre, Ballam Park, Frankston. Please find attached the link to the SMR Relays Timetable 2026
As per Mentone Relay Day (MRD), these events cannot run without everyone's help. Families with athletes competing are required to perform one duty per child participating. Not assisting with your allocated duty may result in the forfeiture of your Parent Duty Bond. We do not have to fill as many roles at Region Relay Carnival as we had to at MRD.
To nominate your preferences, please email mentonecomp@lavic.com.au with the following information by midday Thursday 20th of November. Please note that it's not always possible to allocate you your first preference, so please provide at least 3 options, per child that is competing. If your athlete is competing in one of the last events of the day, we may need to allocate you to the late afternoon time slot, regardless of your preference.
